Official Launch of the 5th Edition of Operation « Citizen and Patriotic Holidays without Covid 19 » in Cameroon
Local Youth Corner Cameroon a peace-building organization whom have been at the front line to prevent the spread of COVID-19 in Cameroon together with the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Civic Education officially launched the campaign « Citizen and Patriotic Holidays without Covid 19 » in Yaounde, Obala on the 9th of September, 2020. Due to the health crisis caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, this campaign is on support for the government response strategy against Covid-19 through the mobilization and mass awareness of the entire educational community, in order to ensure peaceful vacations. It is about getting young people in particular to scrupulously respect the prescribed health and safety measures; in particular regular hand washing, physical distancing, compulsory wearing of a protective mask.
Local Youth Corner Cameroon (LOYOC) led by its National Coordinator Mr Achaleke Christian Leke in collaboration with the Ministry of Youth and Civic Education represented by it’s Regional Delegate, handed over some 530 hand sanitizers, 115 stickers and 1 loudspeaker during the official ceremony to the Divisional Officer and Divisional Delegate of Obala. The PPEs were handed over while sensitizing the population on the prevention of COVID-19 in Obala. “We are really overwhelmed with these donations of hand sanitizers, sensitization stickers, recorded sensitization messages intended to help prevent the spread of covid-19 in Obala which we received freely from the organization Local Youth Corner Cameroon” said Mr. Patrick Simou, the Divisional Officer of Obala.
The items were received on behalf of the population by the Divisional Officer and the Divisional Delegate of Obala with much appreciation, “ we appreciate this thoughtful gesture, it is not done every day and by every organisation and we promise you that this aid that you have given us will be put into proper use for the community” said the Divisional Delegate of Obala.
After the official ceremony, the different youth groups led by the Regional Delegate of Youth Affairs and Civic Education, matched from Obala town hall to the Carrefour to sensitise the population with the banner “Regional Launching of a Citizen and Patriotic Holidays free from COVID-19. The Elites of Obala Creating Awareness”
