Meet the Winners of the Stop Hate Speech on Social Media Video Contest 2022.
Local youth Corner Cameroon (LOYOC) is pleased to announce the three successful winners of the “STOP HATE SPEECH ON SOCIAL MEDIA VIDEO CONTEST” funded by the European Union. It was implemented in consortium with LIONN production(Mr Leo) and in Partnership with The National Commission for the Promotion of Bilingualism and Multiculturalism, the National Communications Council and the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Civic Education.
A special thanks go to all participants for their interest in submitting videos for the contest. We received over 180 videos which made the contest more engaging and rendered the contest a success. All the videos received were a clear indication that young Cameroonians are innovative and full of talent with the wish to champion the fight against Hate Speech in Cameroon.
The selection process was done by a panel of judges who sat through three sessions before arriving at a final phase of evaluation and selection of the three winners. The final phase of evaluation and selection of videos was organized at the European Union Delegation in Yaounde Cameroon on Thursday November 10th, 2022.
In the words of our Executive Director Mr. Achaleke Christian Leke, “This was indeed not a competition but an opportunity for young people to showcase their innovation and drive to solve the country’s challenges. All the 180 submissions were amazing but for the purpose of the campaign we had to select only the which met all the key rubrics of this campaign”
Local Youth Corner Cameroon will do well to engage with all the 180 contestants for future engagements. We encourage them to share their videos widely in order to sensitize the nation.
