VOLUNTEERING OPPORTUNITIES (Project Assistant, Graphics Designer and Finance Administration Assistant)
Summary
Local Youth Corner Cameroon(LOYOC) is a national, non-governmental, non-profit making and youth-led organization working with young people to build peace and prevent youth radicalization, instrumentalization and violent extremism. LOYOC seeks to build peace and prevent youth radicalism and violent extremism through training, peer to peer education, sports, policy recommendations and research, etc, and create an enabling environment for young people to exercise their full potentials. Created in 2002, the organisation currently has three operational offices with head quarters in Yaoundé including the just established Buea Field office which has operational coverage in Littoral, West, Northwest and South west regions of Cameroon.
With the need to recruit visionary and passionate young peacebuilders to push the vision of the organisation and with LOYOC being an equal opportunity employer, we are currently looking for young people with passion for peacebuilding and development and with competencies in Project Management, Graphics Designing, Administration and Finance Management,and who are based in BUEA.
1.PROJECT ASSISTANT (1 VOLUNTEER)
Reports to: The Program Manager
Type: Full Time
Location: BUEA
Key Project Management Responsibilities
- Design, plan and implement projects
- Assist in tracking project performance, specifically to analyse the successful completion of short and long-term goals.
- Assist in the definition of project scope and objectives, involving all relevant stakeholders and ensuring technical feasibility.
- Produce quality narrative reports, success stories, testimonials, analyses of the progress of the implementation of activities in the field, and the results achieved by the action.
- Develop project activities methodology or breakdown
- Assist in developing project budgets.
- Assist in research and advocacy.
- Provide monthly, quarterly and annual activity reports.
Key skills and Competencies
- Project writing and management.

Job Specifications/Requirements
- Degree/diplomain appropriate field withat least 1-yearwork experience in that field.
- Passion for peacebuildingand community development
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Must be a youth between 18and 32years

- Sharp time management skills.
- Strong ethics, with an ability to manage confidential data.
- Possess leadership skills, flexible, and possess internet skills.
- Must be fluent in the English language and any working knowledge of the French language will be an asset.
- Ability to understand, communicate and manage complex cross-functional issues.
- Demonstrate excellent interpersonal skills and a willingness to communicate with individuals at all levels.

2.FINANCE ADMINISTRATIONASSISTANT(1 VOLUNTEER)
Reports to: The Finance Officer
Type: Full Time
Location: BUEA
Job Summary
The Finance and Administration Assistant will principally be assisting with invoices and budget preparations, and updating internal systems with financial data. He/she will also be charged with creating and updating spreadsheets of daily transactions, managing accounts receivable and payable, reviewing and processing reimbursements, as well as providing administrative support to the management of the organisation.
Primary responsibilities
- Maintenance of accounts; both receipts and payments and to see that all relevant administrative and financial records are maintained properly.
- Analyse finances and develop budgets that will keep the organisation’s costs down.
- Exercise supervisory control over transactions and disbursements.
- Conduct internal audit and draft all financial reports.
- Manage the preparation and publication of departmental and organization financial documents.
- Collaborate with management on development and execution of funding strategies.
- Examine financial and legal documents to verify accuracy and adherence to financial regulations and acceptable financial principles.
- Keep accurate records for all daily transactions and manage the organisation’s petit cash.
- Prepare balance sheetsand monthly account reconciliations.
- Record accounts payable and accounts receivable.
- Prepare monthly, quarterly and annual financial reports.
- Ensure the petit cash record book is up to date.
- Assist with budget preparation Review and implement financial policies
Other Responsibilities
- Track and monitor resource needs and other material needs for carrying out financial and administration tasks.
- Manages time-sheets.
- Manage the internal leave registry.
- Assist inlogistics and other administrative tasks required.
- Contribute to the organisation of meetings, conferences, events and actions.
Job Specifications/Requirements
- Degree or Diploma in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business Administrationor any other related fields.
- Must be a youth between 18and 32years.
- Solid knowledge of financial and accounting procedures.
- practical knowledge using financial and administration software.
- Advanced skills in Microsoftpackage (especially MS Word, Excel andPowerPoint).
- Knowledge of financial regulations.
- Knowledge of administrative duties (documentation, making calls, managing correspondences, printing, photocopying, etc).
- Excellent analytical and numerical skills.
- Sharp time management skills.
- Strong ethics, with an ability to manage confidential data.
- Have strong communication skills, possessleadership skills, flexible,possess internet skills.
- Must be fluent in English. Workingknowledge of the Frenchlanguage is an advantage.

3.GRAPHICS DESIGNER(1 VOLUNTEER)
Reports to: The Communications and Partnership Manager
Type: Full Time
Location: BUEA
Summary
The Graphics Designerwill complement the work of the communications department and ease communication within and without the organisation. Primarily, the designer(He/She) must be able to communicate ideas through text, codes and images.
Primary responsibilities
- Use computer software(e.g. Adobe Photoshop) to execute designs like banners, posters, stickers, drop backs, etc.
- Design and layout page elementsfor the organisation’s websites.
- Edit images and videos for the website.
- Work with producers/directors on design, testing, installation and positioning of equipment and props for live events or meetings.
- Assist in the production and publication of documents and audio visuals like books, journals, articles, short films, documentaries, etc.
Key Competencies
Typography: Familiarity with typographical principles and practicesis also essential in this role, as the graphic designer needs to consider font choices and sizes and how they work within the page.
Image editing: In this role, graphic designers frequently make changes to a page’s images that range from cropping and resizing to optimizing images for desktop or mobile browsers.
Communication skills: Written and verbal communication are both vital in this role, as web graphic designers need to collaborate with design and development teams and communicate with visitors and partners.
Specifications/Requirement
- Degree or Diploma in Web and Graphics Design or related fields. We can also consider candidates without formal education but with skills and proven experience in web and graphics.
- Must be a youth between 18and 32years
- Must have at least 1 yearof working experience including volunteer and/or professional internship experience on web/graphics.
- Have strong communication skills, master various forms of today’s technology, be a creative thinker, possess leadership skills; be goal-oriented, flexible and creative under pressure; possess internet and computer skills.
- Must be fluent in English. Basic knowledge of the French language is an advantage.
- Ability to understand, communicate and manage complex cross-functional issues.
- Demonstrate excellent interpersonal skills and a willingness to communicate with individuals at all levels.
- Image editing software (Adobe Photoshop)-Highly Recommended.
- Microsoft packages(Word, PowerPoint, Publisher)
- Mastery of any of these web coding languages;CSS, HTML, and JavaScript code will be an advantage. Nonetheless, mastery of one and basic knowledge on the others will be considered.
