Local Youth Corner Cameroon (LOYOC) is a youth-led peace-building organization in Cameroon. The organization focuses on promoting the empowerment of young people (males and females) in the domain of peacebuilding, as well as preventing and countering violent extremism and promoting sustainable development. As a youth-led organization, LOYOC applies a Positive Youth Development Approach that strengthens the assets/skills, sense of agency, an opportunity for contributions, and the enabling environment for youth.

LOYOC has designed an innovative 12-month project which seeks to build on sports and leisure activities as a key tool to provide safe spaces for dialogue, peer-to-peer learning and critical thinking, youth leadership, social cohesion, influence attitude, and life skills. A Major Activity within the project is to carry out evidence-based research that would show how sports can be used as a tool to prevent violent extremism in Cameroon. LOYOC, therefore, seeks a researcher who can engage in youth-led evidence-based research to develop a country-specific publication that will highlight the role of sports in preventing violent extremism and promoting social cohesion in Cameroon, building on the UNCRI Technical Guide. The publication’s key focus will be on some evidence of positive practice and policy recommendations.
