The Youth, Peace, and Security National Action Plan and LOYOC’s Commitment

At Local Youth Corner Cameroon (LOYOC), we have always championed the rights and empowerment of young people. Since our inception in 2002, we have dedicated ourselves to addressing the socio-political and economic challenges facing youth, including unemployment, gender-based violence, and exclusion from decision-making processes. With the recent signing of the Partnership Agreement with the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Civic Education (MINJEC) during the launch of the Youth, Peace, and Security National Action Plan 2025-2030 (YPS-NAP), we are excited to take a significant step forward in our mission.
The Significance of the YPS-NAP
The YPS-NAP is a groundbreaking initiative designed to foster the socio-economic integration of young people while enhancing civic education. This plan aligns perfectly with our core values at LOYOC, which emphasize empowerment, civic engagement, and community development. By focusing on moral and entrepreneurial development, technical capacity building in leadership, and the promotion of community volunteering, the YPS-NAP aims to cultivate a generation of active agents of change.
Through this partnership, LOYOC will engage youth aged 15 to 35, particularly those registered with the National Youth Observatory. This focus on youth engagement is crucial, as it not only empowers young people but also positions them as catalysts for peace in their communities.
What the MoU Means for LOYOC
The signing of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) marks a pivotal moment for LOYOC. It signifies our commitment to working collaboratively with MINJEC to create sustainable solutions that address pressing issues such as violent extremism and social exclusion. By equipping young people with essential skills and knowledge, we aim to enhance their participation in civic activities and decision-making processes.
Moving forward, this partnership will enable LOYOC to leverage resources more effectively, ensuring that our programs reach even more young people across Cameroon. We will focus on building a responsible, dynamic, and engaged youth population that contributes positively to society. The MoU not only strengthens our existing initiatives but also opens doors for new projects that align with national development goals and foster a culture of peace and security.
A Vision for the Future
As we embark on this journey with the YPS-NAP, we remain steadfast in our commitment to empowering youth and fostering social justice. This partnership is not just a milestone; it is a catalyst for transformative change. Together with MINJEC, we aim to create a more inclusive and resilient society, where every young person has the opportunity to thrive.
At LOYOC, we believe that by investing in our youth, we are investing in the future of Cameroon. We are excited about the possibilities ahead and invite all stakeholders to join us in this vital endeavor. Together, we can create a brighter future for our youth and build a peaceful, prosperous nation.
