National Youth Day 2025: LOYOC Strengthens Commitment to PeaceBuilding and Youth Empowerment

Every year on February 11, Cameroon commemorates National Youth Day, a momentous occasion dedicated to celebrating the potential, resilience, and contributions of young people in nation-building. Under the theme ‘Youth, maturity and responsibility for the consolidation of peace, security, economic growth, and the democratic process’, the 59th edition of the National Youth Day celebration serves as a reminder of the critical role youth play in shaping the country’s future.
Local Youth Corner (LOYOC) Cameroon, a leading youth-focused organization, has consistently been at the forefront of this celebration, aligning its activities with its vision of working towards a day when young people are respected and engaged as key partners in building a peaceful, prosperous and violent-free society.

LOYOC’s Vision and Mission in Action
LOYOC’s mission is to support youth empowerment and participation in peacebuilding, prevent violent extremism, and advance sustainable development to ensure peaceful communities. Through initiatives centered on peacebuilding and youth empowerment, LOYOC has been instrumental in creating platforms for dialogue, skill development, and leadership training.
During the National Youth Week, LOYOC partners with other CSOs and institutions like The Ministry of Youth Affairs and Civic Education, UNFPA, Cameroon National Youth Council, and the Canadian Embassy to organize events such as peace marches, workshops, and community outreach programs all aimed at fostering unity and resilience among young Cameroonians in a build-up to the National Youth Day Celebration.
Activities That Inspire Change
This year, LOYOC is commemorating the National Youth Day with a series of impactful activities across the national territory. At the youth village in Yaounde, the organization set up a stand where about 200 youths passed by and were drilled on peacebuilding techniques and ways to enhance conflict resolution and social cohesion.

Similarly, the team in the South West Region engaged with youths in the West Coast – Idenau, on various topics around peacebuilding, youth empowerment, and conflict resolution. In the same vein, our far north team engaged with youths in the Diamare division of the Bogo district in partnership with the Cameroon National Youth Council. These activities not only celebrate the spirit of National Youth Day but also reinforce LOYOC’s commitment to creating a brighter future for Cameroon’s youth.
