Call for Side Events: Regional Symposium on Youth and Peace Processes in Cameroon

The Organizing Committee of the Regional Symposium on Youth and Peace Processes invites proposals for side events to be held during the symposium. The symposium will bring together 200 participants (160 youth leaders and 40 stakeholders) to reflect on trends, gaps, and opportunities in youth-led peacebuilding, DDR efforts, and the prevention of the recruitment and use of children in armed conflict.

Objectives of Side Events

Side events provide an opportunity for partners, organizations, and networks to:

Showcase innovative practices, research, or tools in peacebuilding and social cohesion.
Deepen discussions on thematic issues such as the recruitment and use of children in armed conflict, DDR, youth leadership, gender and peace, or local governance.
Highlight successful models, lessons, and opportunities for collaboration.
Create space for dialogue, networking, and advocacy around youth peace and security.

Eligibility

National and international NGOs, UN agencies, government institutions, youth-led organizations, academic institutions, and networks.
Events must align with the overall theme of the symposium: “Building Peace Together: Youth at the Center of Peace Processes in Cameroon.”

Guidelines for Side Events

Duration: 60 – 90 minutes.
Format: Panel discussion, workshop, roundtable, skills lab, exhibition, or cultural performance.
Language: English
Organizers are responsible for developing the agenda, mobilizing speakers, and coordinating logistics in collaboration with the Secretariat.

Interested organizations are invited to submit a Side Event Proposal Form (maximum 2 pages) including:

Title of the side event.
Lead organizing institution(s).
Objective(s) and expected outcomes.
Proposed format and methodology.
Target audience.
List of potential speakers/facilitators.
