DONATE A PRIZE/BE A PARTNER OF THE CREATIVE SKILLS FOR PEACE INTER PRISON ESSAY COMPETITION

Local Youth Corner Cameroon is happy to announce that the Inter Prison Essay competition is nearing its finale. I t has been an enriching process so far and we are looking forward to the prize giving ceremony. The theme of the essay competition; ‘Peace and I’, is centered on the role of young people in the peace process.

The objective of this competition is to promote a culture of peace and discipline while preventing youth recidivism. It is also an opportunity to humanize violent offenders and to give them a chance at becoming agents of change and ambassadors of peace. Finally, it is a chance for the prisoners to tell their stories

The essay competition which is currently being carried out in participating prisons of the Creative Skills for Peace project has been divided into two categories:

The Adult category with the essay topic ‘The change I want to make’. What is the one thing you would like to do or change to make your country more peaceful?’

The Juvenile category with the essay topic: ‘What does peace mean to you?’

The writing and marking process has been going on smoothly and we are excited to meet the winners soon. The quality of their essays will inspire you; they write from their hearts and are determined not to let their circumstances take them down.

Local Youth Corner Cameroon’s team beckons on the entire public to join this endeavor by donating prizes or being a partner to encourage these inmates who have poured out their experiences on their scripts.  These donations will go a long way to help them psychologically knowing that the outside world still has them at heart. Together let us join our efforts and ease the process of rehabilitating and reintegrating these young violent offenders in to their various communities.
